Astrology has a long
history and has been around since the beginning of time. Man/woman has
always looked to the stars to try and gain some understanding of the world
around them. It has been both in favor and out of favor throughout the
centuries. In the ancient world, astrologers were a part of every kingdom
and their advice was relied upon in major decisions. Today, many folks
consider astrology to be a joke and look at the Sun Sign tidbits in the daily
newspapers, thinking that is astrology.
I have been a student
of astrology for over 35 years and still consider myself a neophyte on the
subject. It is that all-consuming and deep. It is said that a good
astrologer could tell you over 17,000 specific things about yourself from
looking at your chart. With our present level of busy
lives, who would have the time? I remember
one excellent astrologer I went to, who read into a tape recorder for over 4
hours, doing an initial birth chart on me.
Many people look to
astrology in the same way they would visit a fortune teller -- to predict the
future. Actually, astrology can only show the energies present and what
area change may occur in one's life. It cannot predict as a certainty,
only as a tendency or likelihood. It is up to the individual to apply the
effort and make the decisions about what is to happen in their life.
Astrology can add to one's self understanding about why a person might feel a
certain way about something.
My study was of a more
personal slant. I was looking for a tool for self-exploration and I found
astrology to be an excellent tool for gaining better
understanding of
myself. For example, I couldn't understand why I would feel so upset if
someone didn't seem to appreciate something I had done for them. Knowing
that appreciation is important to a Leo, let me deal better with that type of
experience. I was able to apply many bits of knowledge learned through
astrology to make my life more fulfilling and harmonious.
A lot of people think
that the only thing that counts is your Sun Sign. Nothing could be further
from the truth. While your Sun Sign may be very important, the other 8
planets and their relationship to the Sun and each other are much more
vital. Then you add the various houses to learn what parts of your life
may be affected and you can begin to see this is a complicated subject.
I have added this page
to give you the option of checking out your horoscopes with professionals in the
field, who I have found to be very good. While a general Sun Sign forecast
doesn't take the place of in-depth personal astrology chart interpretation, it
can be helpful and interesting. It might inspire you to have your own
chart done some day and learn more about yourself.
Happy star-gazing:
